The war of browsers : Microsoft Internet Explorer vs Mozilla Firefox vs Google Chrome. Internet explorer holds 50-55% of the browser market share, Mozilla Firefox holds 25-30% and the latest arrival Google Chrome has nearly 5-8% by now. Mozilla Firefox had been capturing the browser market share from Internet Explorer till last yest. Today, google chrome has started capturing Mozilla Firefox’s market share too. Google chrome is growing rapidly, the steady growth of Firefox has been diminished after the arrival of chrome, and Internet Explorer is experiencing an unceasing fall and chrome has exacerbated the fall of IE. Four Effective Ways to Promote your Blog

A good blog should have a considerable amount of visitors. Apart from writing a blog we have to make many people visit it and love it. There are some important ways to promote a blog that usually all good bloggers do, we will see them one by one. (If you are a hobby blogger or Local language(Non English) or a blogger who writes for no valid purpose, you may not need to follow all of this.)

1. Originality and Quality of the content

The blog should be of a good quality and should be written in a regular manner. This is very important because if a visitor thinks your blog is not making any sense to him, he will not visit your blog back. You should attract each and every visitor of your blog, no matter how he or she found your blog, if they think your blog is useful to them very likely they will bookmark it, visit you back and share with others too. In order to maintain this you should post regularly. For instance, if you keep your blog silent for one week, your regular visitors who expect some interesting things from you will be disappointed and they might simply go away from your blog. Thus, quality and regularity in very important to keep your regular visitors with you.

2. Search Engine Optimization

Search Engines should index your blog and blog posts. Your blog should be search engine friendly so that they will be listed when a user searches using a keyword which is relevant to your blog or a particular post of your blog. If you do a good search engine optimization(SEO) for your blog you can get a very good amount of visitors via search engines. Make your post titles, URL, content in such a way thy are search engine friendly, use seo plug-ins and build links to your blog. This is the superficial SEO that you can do simply in order to improve the search engine driven traffic. If you want to get even more SE traffic you may do off-site SEO too.

3.Sharing it on social networking sites.

Today, it is a very effective method. By tweeting your blog post links from your twitter account all of your active twitter followers would visit the link you tweeted. Twitter is the best social networking platform to promote your blog to many people. Thus open a twitter account for your blog and let the interested people follow it. Next to twitter, Facebook sharing is an effective way to get visitors. You can open a facebook fan page for your blog and update it with blog post links – this almost acts like a twitter account of your blog. Not only facebook or twitter but also you had better use the other social networking, micro blogging platforms, such as google buzz, linked in, etc. Make sure you are not spamming by too many tweets and updates, if you do so you will very likely loose followers and fans.

4. Social bookmarking the posts.

Submit your blog posts to the top social bookmarking sites such as digg, reddit, stumbleupon, etc. This is a very good method to promote your blog posts. Many people are using social booking sites to find useful blog posts on their interested topics. Your submitted link of your blog post will be further “digged” or “stumbled” or “liked” (These are some methods these social bookmarking sites use to have the readers rate a submitted post) by the readers who find it useful or interesting to them. And a good blog post will get a high rating and be visited by a big number of users

New Gmail feature – Message Sneak Peek

Gmail labs enhance the gmail by introducing new features. These features can be enabled when a user wants them and can be disabled when the user feels it is not necessary. Last week google labs introduced a new interesting feature that almost all gmail users would like to have. It is the “Message Sneak Peek”. After enabling this feature when you right click on a message in your inbox the message will just simply appear to you like a preview along with the options to delete or archive that message. The following image shows you everything in one picture.

How to enable Message Sneak Peek?
Go to Settings -> Labs -> Message Sneak Peek – Enable it, that is all!

Chrome vs Safari, Google eats apple!

Google Chrome, the web browser introduced by the web giant google has acquired the third place in the browser market. Safari, the web browser of apple has lost its third place to chrome and gone to the forth position. Microsoft Internet Explorer remains first and Mozilla Firefox remains second as they were and Internet Explorer is loosing its market to Mozillz Firefox little by little. Chrome has become a big completer of Mozilla Firefox and it is being observed that the vigorous growth of Mozilla has been mitigated by Chrome. However, Internet Explorer is on its way and usually the Internet Explorer users are the people who never tried to install any new browser into their windows desktop/laptop, so it is still a question if they will bother installing chrome, but the the way google push chrome could make them do it. Google is very happy as chrome has captured a considerable market portion within a very shorter period. Although the future of the browser market is somewhat obvious, let’s wait and see! There will be an interesting competition among Chrome, Firefox and IE! Have a look at the following graph for detailed illustration.

What is SEO

When we need to find anything on the internet, we just search it on a search engine (usually google) by typing a relevant key word and follow the search results. Thus, webmasters are trying their website to be listed top of the search results for particular key words. The process of making a website come on top of search results is called “Search Engine Optimization”(SEO). Primary goal of SEO is to increase the organic traffic of a website. It has not been taught in any institutions and the best way to be an SEO expert is to get your hands dirty with it. Well, you can’t get the SEO knowledge buy reading any book or guide, doing SEO is the best way to learn it no matter what your SEO knowledge is, of course you will find new new things every day and you will become an SEO after a very few years depending on your effort and interest . After doing it for a few years you will get a good idea of all SEO techniques, tools and secrets. You will not easily find any proper SEO guides, because most of the SEO experts don’t like to share their very valuable knowledge publicly, since SEO is a very effective money making business on the internet.

SEO comprises a wide range of operations. Usually many people think that SEO is always done on the web page itself – known as ‘onpage SEO’ , but it is completely a wrong idea. Because the main part of SEO is done out side of the website – known as ‘offpage SEO’. Of course, SEO can be done without touching a web page. As more than 75% of the searches are being done using google, mainly SEO is done for google search engine and it might, at the same time increase the organic traffic from other search engines as well. But, keep in mind that spiders of each search engine is different although they might work similarly in some aspects. Doing SEO for less popular search engines is not worth the time and work.

New google search user interface

Google is going to introduce a new search interface soon. This user interface has more search options than the current one. The initial search page (google.com) will remain same as the current one, with a little change in colors and shape. The main change is made on the search results page. There you will see a column at the left hand side, like yahoo and bing search results page.

Ok..Do you want to use the google’s new search UI now? Just follow these steps…..

Go to http://google.com/ncr

And now you have to set the cookie in your browser, It can be simply done by Java Script. Just right click on the following link, get the java script URL, paste it on the address bar and press enter….

Right click on this and get this link (copy link)

That’s all! Start searching and you will be using the google’s new interface. It will look like this….

Website ranking systems

There is a website. Is it popular? Is it reputed? then, up to what extent? These are the common questions which arise in a user’s mind. Will anyone be able to find them out? Answer is “Yes, of course”. Every day you visit many websites, they are either known or unknown to you and you can not evaluate the website by looking at this aesthetic features or the content. Anyone can start a website and say whatever he/she wants! Alexa rank and the google page rank are the widely referred and recognized web rankings…..

Alexa Rank

All websites are ranked according to the traffic (simply says, number of visitors visiting that website). This service has been provided by Alexa. The rank is known as Alexa rank. According to the alexa ranking right now, google is in the first place, facebook is in the second place, yahoo is in the third place and so on. Before one year yahoo was the first google was the second and facebook was somwhere around fifth. All websites have a unique rank and all these ranks are dynamically changing according to the change in traffic driven to the website.

Google Page Rank

All websites and web pages are ranked based on the originality of the content and the back links(Links from other websites to that page). This service is provided by google. The rank is known as Google page rank. Google page rank ranges from zero to ten. The total number of websites which has page rank 10 is very few, may be less than ten or five. Google uses a unique formula to give the page rank.

So, check the page rank and alexa rank, so that you will exactly find out the true nature of a website…….
